2022 WRX Stage 1 Tuning Results

The 2022 Subaru WRX has received a lot of criticism on its looks, but one of the biggest changes made for the new model seems to live in the shadows of most reviews out there. The engine. The new 2.4 liter FA24, even in stock form, shows a BIG increase in both power and torque over the outgoing FA20 in the 15-21 WRX models, at least according to my butt dyno.

Over the past couple of months, and a few trips to our favorite local Subaru tuning shop, JM Automotive, we have put our car to the test. Our goal was to see what kind of power the new model is making on the stock tune and trying out a couple of off-the-shelf tuning solutions to build on top of the performance we were already experiencing.

Here is the info we have gathered, in a nice little interactive dyno chart and a head to head video of some of those tuning options. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway. These results are for our specific '22 WRX, and every car responds differently, so you may not have the exact same results if you choose to pursue these options. Anyway, enjoy the data!

Disclaimer: All dynos read differently, so I will primarily be referencing the power gains as a percentage rather than the actual figures. The Dyno Dynamics dyno at JM is known to read 15-20% lower than other dynos.
