Wide open hood!
I bought these to replace my aging (10+ year) Tein hood dampers. I love that this opens the hood almost 90'. It's just like our w211 Mercedes that has the same feature. Makes working in the engine bay so much nicer. Install was simple. It should take you about 10 minutes. Unfortunately with mine, the Tein ball bolt that screws into the engine bay sides snapped (probably due to age/rust). I had to drill out the old broken ball bolt and then tap it (total time was about an hour install, no fault of GS). Once that was done it took all of 2 minutes to screw in the ball bolts from the grimmspeed kit into the fender/engine bay. I DO wish Grimmspeed would label the hardware. Driver / Passenger. It would make it easier to install and not have someone like me have to get on a computer and search for pictures. I was surprised they didn't label them honestly, seems like such a simple oversight, or at least stamp the brackets with D / P. The only thing I do not like is the ugly gold GS badging. I really wish they would have made these look cooler. From more than a couple feet away it just looks like a big giant gold sticker. If the lettering or outline was done in a black font it would look nice and stand out. I like that these are made in the USA. The only real down fall to these is they are not pretty looking. They are just black dampers. The Tein I replaced were very cool looking by comparison. Get these and enjoy a wide open hood.
