Third time, for 3rd car
I've used the lightweight crank pulley again on my most recent Subaru project: 2000 2.5RS Racecar. It worked awesomely on my previous 2 Subarus; 2004 Forester STI conversion and 2013 STI Limited.
Love GrimmSpeed's products and customer service, it is excellent in all regards!
Should be your first purchase, after buying the car
Bought a 2016 STI and read a bunch of posts on several forums about the stock pulley failing. Got this on sale during black Friday and figured for $109 it was worth the risk, I have spent more on worse before. I did not buy the belt install tool, used a screwdriver and my hands along with a quick search on YouTube and got the belt off and on simply by turning the engine over and applying slight pressure to walk the belt off and back on the a/c compressor. After install first thing I noticed was the engine no longer bogged down when the a/c clutch cycled on. Before the engine would drop around 200-300 rpm but now doesn't drop but 50 now. Idle quality is much smoother and while it won't give you any more power, it allows the engine to turn with less effort. The engine by design does not have any harmonic imbalance (search Subaru engine design) as the cylinders are directly across from each other unlike an inline or v type. Best visual is like strumming a guitar string while moving your hand in the same motion as the connecting rod moves. So the weight reduction only helps in this case. Overall VERY happy with this purchase and would not hesitate to recommend to others!
