Great quality
"Great product and quality although I will say that the struts are very 'soft' when it comes to close the hood, there is no resistance. Hopefully this make sense."

Tired of that ugly OEM hood prop blocking your view of that beautiful boxer engine? Always wanted to open your hood with just a couple fingers? Annoyed that the hood prop is always in your way while you’re working in your engine bay? GrimmSpeed to the rescue. With meticulous design and quality materials, this kit delivers in a big way. We hate to use the "P" word, but designing this kit to be perfectly balanced was a requirement. Lift the hood halfway and you'll find a generous neutral zone. Leave your hood here for a sleek look at that local car show. Alternatively, a flick of the wrist is all that's required to coax your hood into its fully opened position. To close, simply hold the hood below its neutral zone and let go. No need to risk scratches or deformation by pushing your hood closed.
We began by mapping the hood and engine bay for a number of test vehicles in 3D CAD. From there, a lifting linkage was designed, analyzed, prototyped and tested. Our in-house 3D printer facilitated a fast, efficient design cycle and we were able to move into production using a CNC laser cutter and CNC bending equipment. What that means for you is a system that will fit and operate correctly, every single time, for years to come. The fender ball studs were also designed specifically for the application, to adapt our high-quality, American Made struts to the metric threads found on your Subaru. What about those struts, you ask? They're beefy. Custom built to our exacting specifications, these struts feature a large diameter body that provides excellent opening force without sacrificing smoothness and control.
With the use and exposure that a hood strut kit will see on a regular basis, material selection and finishing options are critically important. All brackets are cut from steel and then powercoated with a durable, texture black coating. The threaded ball studs are machined from Stainless Steel to ensure that no potentially corrosive material is being introduced to your vehicles chassis. The next key component is the struts themselves. More specifically, these are referred to as gas springs. Manufactured in the USA, these are of the highest quality and are used by OEMs around the world. These custom valved units (to perfectly match the weight of the aluminum WRX and STI hoods) are paired with clear zinc hardware and a quick-release ball and socket. Last, but certainly not least, is the included hardware. All hardware is grade 8.8 or higher and clear zinc coated for longevity.

"I ordered these hood struts, but unfortunately in the mail receieved a license plate relocation kit. After emailing, I was told they would ship out the Hood Struts I ordered, and did not have to worry about shipping the other product back because the price would be more than the product. They were very fast, and I received the Hood Struts in a few days! Even better - FedEx was not able to get in touch with me about paying the customs, and GrimmSpeed took care of that too. Very impressed with GrimmSpeed, their customer service, and the product is fantastic!!"
"Should have bought these years ago. Very nice to have the extra light and room to work. The instructions where very helpful and I like that the GS logo stickers are separate so you can apply them if you want to or keep a clean look. Thanks GS"
"Nice Upgrade!! Only thing I didn't like, was not having a supplied washer and reusing the OEM composite washer from the bottom strut mount as well. Just having the gold lower strut mount alone felt like a weak point. Also, my wrench was too thick to fit inside the strut to tighten. Easy install, just had to find a skinnier wrench."
"My 2013 sti's lift supports were shot, both of them. Dealer wanted 70ish each strut so it only makes sense to purchase this kit. As the hood lifts to maximum height to does bounce a bit, I wish the lift supports had a different valve to slow it down a bit but you cant beat the price vs the dealer."
"Bought these to replace the busted OEM set. Great product with true to advertisement performance. Very happy with the added lift. Be sure to not overtorque the brass-colored thread. I busted one when I got a little tight-happy! Grimmspeed was there to help me fix my FUBAR thankfully, and now I’m set and a very happy customer. Kudos to their products and great support!"
