How a Strut Bar Transforms Your Drive — And Why GrimmSpeed Built a Better One
When you think about improving the way your car feels behind the wheel, most people immediately jump to tires, suspension, or power upgrades. But there's another simple and often overlooked way to seriously sharpen your car’s response: a strut bar.
A strut bar connects the tops of your car’s strut towers, helping to stiffen the front end of the chassis. Without one, those towers can flex under hard cornering, acceleration, and braking, causing the car to feel less precise and more disconnected from your steering inputs. With a properly designed strut bar in place, that flex is reduced, which means better steering feedback, tighter handling, and an overall more confident driving experience.
Not all strut bars are created equal, though. Some are little more than decorative add-ons, offering minimal real-world benefit. That’s where GrimmSpeed’s newest release steps in.
The GrimmSpeed Strut Bar: Built for Real Strength, Not Just Looks
At GrimmSpeed, we wanted to build a strut bar that wasn’t just another pretty piece for show — it had to deliver real performance gains you could feel from the driver's seat.
Instead of taking the easy path with stamped sheet metal and welds, we designed forged 6061 aluminum ends that are precision-machined for maximum strength and perfect fitment. These forged pieces anchor a strong, lightweight DOM mild steel tube that’s been carefully bent to fit your Subaru engine bay.
But strength alone wasn’t enough. We paid close attention to how everything connects. The GrimmSpeed Strut Bar uses a dual-shear eyelet bolt design at each end — an approach that clamps down harder and maintains rigidity better than simple single-shear or slip-fit designs. Plus, the system is designed to accommodate small frame variances that naturally occur over years of use, ensuring a tight fit.
The entire assembly is finished in durable powder coating, available in bold Black or Red. We also use high-grade stainless steel hardware throughout, so it can handle whatever heat and grime life under the hood throws at it.
And because we believe in sweating the small stuff, every strut bar comes packaged with a GrimmSpeed logo medallion, a license plate frame, and a two GS decals — a small touch, but one that shows we’re thinking about the full experience.
Why It Matters for Your Drive
Adding chassis stiffness doesn’t just help with extreme driving — it improves the daily feel of your car too. A properly braced front end means quicker steering response, more predictable turn-in, and a greater sense of control when you're behind the wheel.
Whether you’re hitting the track, climbing mountain roads, or simply enjoying your daily commute, a well-designed strut bar is one of those rare modifications that makes your car feel more dialed-in every time you drive it. And now, with GrimmSpeed’s design focused on strength and longevity, you can trust that it’s more than just an aesthetic mod — it’s real performance.
